Selling your current home

If you are planning to sell your home, you may be concerned about leaving it empty while waiting for it to sell or that it may sell so quickly that you could be left without a place to live. You may wonder if you need to wait until your house is sold before applying for an apartment with MJHA.

This is a very common situation for many older adults and the MJHA has had extensive experience in handling this situation. Your best course of action is to contact the MJHA and speak with a Tenant Relations Officer and explain your circumstances. They will be happy to discuss with you the best way to handle a move. Rest assured, you will not be left out in the cold!

Physical restrictions

You may wonder what happens if you were to fall, for example, and could no longer manage without a walker? Would the MJHA expect you to move out?

You would not be required to move out. Although independence is always a requirement, the MJHA facilities are most accommodating to the needs of older adults. The MJHA Tenant Relations Officer will meet with you and discuss your needs and requirements. They will also assist to connect tenants with any outside agency that you feel could be helpful to you.
